Even though we're only a few months into 2023, this year has already brought us some great singles, EPs, and albums. (And I'm sure there's even more to come). Keep reading to see some of the recent releases that I've been loving lately!
First up, J.R. Carroll's OurVinyl Sessions.
I've been waiting on this one for a while and it definitely did not disappoint. Featuring 4 songs, this EP effectively showcases J.R.'s many talents, especially his clever, at times heartbreaking, songwriting. Though, for those of us who have been fans for a while, we were already well aware of his abilities. It's definitely hard for me to pick a favorite from this one, each song is beautiful in its own right. If you haven't been following J.R. Carroll, you should be. The man is going places sooner rather than later.
Next, You'd Never Know by Evan Honer.
This single by Evan beautifully details the heartbreaking story of a struggling girl who hides her pain from everyone around her. Honestly, this one is a straight punch in the gut... and I love it. From the storytelling to Evan's vocals, this song is an all-around stunner.
Of course, I have to mention Drayton Farley's new album, Twenty on High.
This album is another one that I've been waiting on and it also didn't disappoint. It's a no-skip album for me, though that isn't surprising when it comes to Drayton. Some of my favorites from this album are The Alabama Moon, All My Yesterday's Have Passed, and How to Feel Again. Not only is this a great album, but it is also accompanied by great merch. This merch drop includes two beautiful vinyl options as well as two killer t-shirt designs. Check it out here.
Finally, I must mention Sunday by Dilan Peirce.
Dilan is a good friend of mine and I had been waiting for this song to come out for almost a year now. It was definitely worth the wait - all good things take time. This is also his first song out on streaming platforms so go give it a listen and give him a follow!
