Welcome to the third and final installment of my blog series about my trip to Tulsa for Zach Bryan Hometown Weekend. If you haven't checked out the rest of this series, you can click to read part one or part two.
In this post, I will discuss Sunday which was my mom and I's last full day in Tulsa, and the conclusion of Zach Bryan Hometown Weekend. Even though Zach’s shows in Tulsa had come to a close, our Sunday was still filled with live music and other entertaining activities.
Sunday, August 13: Exploring Tulsa & the 2 Whales Concert
My mom and I began our Sunday in Tulsa by getting breakfast at Antoinette Bakery & Cafe which was just steps from our hotel. If you’re ever in the area, I recommend trying their Brown Butter Brown Sugar Cookie or their Raspberry Danish — both were amazing. Though, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on their menu; I wish I could've tried everything.
After breakfast, we had some time to kill and decided to go to Boot Barn and Cavender's. While I typically don’t go shopping at retail chains while on vacation, I’m glad I did this time. The Boot Barn and Cavender's in Tulsa had much larger selections than the ones back home.
Once we were done shopping, it was time to head to the 2 Whales Concert at J. Farley's Pub in Claremore, Oklahoma. This was the 1st annual 2 Whales Concert to honor and celebrate the memory of Jake Flint and to support the Flint family.
Jake Flint was a singer-songwriter from Oklahoma who passed away last November at only 37 years old. While I did not know Jake personally, I have only heard great things about him. Based on the great turnout at the benefit concert, it was evident that Jake Flint meant a lot to a lot of people.
At the benefit concert, there was live music throughout the day and night, a cornhole tournament, a silent auction, and food and drink specials. Many talented musicians took the stage at J. Farley's that day including, but not limited to, Jake Marlin, Emily Hollingshed, Connor Wilson, Ben Brock, Ty Lewis, Wes Nelson, Casey West, Dylan Irvin, and J.R. Carroll.

Before arriving at J. Farley's Pub on Sunday, I was not aware that J.R. Carroll was going to be performing; I was ecstatic when my friend informed me that he would be. For his set, J.R. played with Ben Brock and they each took turns playing songs. J.R. and Ben both played amazing, emotional sets that honored Jake Flint well. I was so thankful for the opportunity to see J.R. in such a small setting. I know it is extremely rare that I will ever have the chance to see J.R. play in such a small space ever again.

I had a great time at the 2 Whales Concert. It was so nice to listen to great music and spend time with great people while honoring the life of Jake Flint and supporting his family. I was able to catch up with some long-distance friends of mine who I hadn't seen in months. Throughout the day, I found myself adding songs by the artists performing to my Spotify playlists and following them on social media.

It was also great to return to J. Farley's Pub. I had been there once before in May 2022 and had been wanting to go back. J. Farley's has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend checking it out.
My mom and I left shortly after the conclusion of J.R. and Ben's set to head back to our hotel. We would've stayed longer but we needed to get enough rest before hitting the road at 4 a.m. the following morning.
All in all, we had an amazing trip to Tulsa. I am so thankful that life happened the way it did so that I could take my mom with me on this trip. We made so many memories that I will cherish forever. I feel so blessed for the opportunity and ability to go on this trip. This definitely won't be my last time in Tulsa. I mean, I already got tickets to see Zach in Tulsa again in 2024!
Thank you for tuning into this blog series and stay tuned for my upcoming posts!
